Kolkata's bustling Metro services on the North-South Corridor has been facing disruption today, with a power outage causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The Kolkata Metro Authority revealed that electrical connection problems at the Park Street Metro station, a critical point for power supply, led to the disruption.
Currently, only one metro is operational, running from Central to Park Street and from Rabindra Sadan to Park Street, instead of the usual simultaneous operation on up and down lines. Kaushik Mitra, Chief Public Relations Officer of Kolkata Metro, acknowledged the issue, stating that the decision to run only one train was made around 8:50 am due to identified faults in the electrical system.
While Mitra did not specify when normal services would resume, he assured passengers that efforts were underway to restore services promptly, urging cooperation and expressing hope for a swift resolution.
